Protego builds AI-powered tools to prevent and overturn denied medical insurance claims.

Protego’s mission is to ensure patients and providers aren’t stuck paying for care that should be covered by insurance. Our founder started Protego in 2023, inspired by his brother’s experience with unfair denials over eight surgeries for Ulcerative Colitis that left him with $1 million in bills.

There are $750 billion in annually denied medical claims in the U.S. While health insurance companies utilize algorithms and system edits to deny claims (Lawsuits: Cigna, Humana & United), physician practices rely on labor to reclaim this revenue. While over half of denied claims are reversible, nearly two-thirds go uncontested due to limited resources and the high cost of appeals - sometimes up to 100 times more than issuing the denial

Our platform leverages AI to ingest and cross reference claims, clinical data, payment criteria (coding guidelines and individual payer policies), and historical cases. By synthesizing this information, we can flag preventable denials in real-time and generate claim-specific appeals post-denial.

We secured pre-seed funding in early 2024 and seed funding in late 2025, and have successfully partnered with multiple healthcare providers to help recover denied claims using our proprietary technology. We're experiencing a period of rapid growth, and are in need of a senior developer to help us address the needs of our expanding customer base.

The Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile Full-Stack Lead to contribute to the development of our SaaS healthcare application. You will develop in backend (Python), frontend (React), DevOps (AWS), and AI-driven tasks leveraging LLMs.

This role requires significant ownership, helping to shape the architecture and delivery of our cutting-edge product.

Responsibilities:

• Lead full-stack development across backend, frontend, data engineering, and DevOps.
• Architect scalable SaaS solutions and oversee system design.
• Drive AI integrations and data engineering efforts.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver impactful, user-focused products.

Requirements:

• 8+ years as a Software Engineer, including both Backend and Frontend.
• Experience with React and full-stack development.
• Expertise in SaaS product architecture and cloud solutions.
• Strong background in databases and data flows.

Advantages:

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or related field, or relevant military experience.
• Experience in healthcare, medical data, or compliance (HIPAA, SOC 2).

We currently work remotely, with teams all around the world. We may move to Hybrid in Tel Aviv in the future.
